Job Description

Mattress Department Manager


Plans, directs and executes all activities in a Star Mattress Department – to include coaching, training, presentation, sales system compliance and delivering all KPI measurements.


Reports To: Store Manager


Essential Functions:



•         Leads and coaches all selling associates – ensures 100% system compliance, communicates and motivates all selling associates



•         Delivers daily, weekly and monthly reviews of Key Performance Metrics



•         Ensures 100% department readiness, compliance with planograms / product placement, signing accuracy and presentation



•         Leads all department activities, to include stand-up department meetings and communication of sales promotion events



•         Works with the Store Manager to clearly communicate results of performance versus the approved annual plan



•         Responsible for implementing all product training and selling training with all selling associates



•         Assists in the recruitment of new associates



•         Creates and maintains a high energy, and a fun but competitive environment – provides associate recognition and celebrations as appropriate



Supervisory Responsibility: Works with all selling Associates in the store.


Work Environment:


This job operates in a store environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, tablets and other office equipment.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:


This is an executive level position and hours of work would routinely be 40 hours per week.  Given the nature of the position, there may be occasions that extra hours may be required to complete tasks as needed to meet the company objectives and timelines.

Education, training, and experience:


Requirements:



•         5 years of experience in a sales environment, retail, furniture, or mattress sales is highly preferred



•         Knowledge of merchandise and its locations



•         Knowledge of company sales system



•         Ability to communicate and write in English

•         Excellent communication skills
